Mississippi Rural Placemaking Summit

Check out presentations and video from the first annual Rural Placemaking Summit. This one-day summit was held on August 1, 2024 all across downtown McComb, Mississippi.

Participants learned from panelists who have used placemaking techniques to implement changes across their communities. Sessions included everything from community storytelling to creating a healthier community, implementing public art in your community, repurposing and preserving historical spaces, and using placemaking techniques for more authentic community engagement.

While this summit brought together diverse participants, all offerings focused on providing practical information and actionable strategies that attendees could implement in their placemaking endeavors. Participants learned how they can enhance public spaces, increase community participation and how the arts, culture, and community-led change can drive economic growth and holistic change in the place they call home.
